Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 20, 2026
1. Overview
Faceit Forecast is a browser extension that provides detailed statistics and analytics for FACEIT matches and players. This policy also covers our website at fforecast.net and our optional Discord bot. Key features of the extension include:
- Extended Faceit levels with detailed elo breakdown
- Enhanced match statistics and team win percentages
- Detailed player statistics displayed on user cards
- Specific match history statistics (Score, K/D, K/R, ADR)
- Quick match information preview without following links
- Automatic message sending when selecting maps
This policy explains how the extension processes data while providing these features.
Key Point: We do not collect, store, or process information such as your name, email address, browsing history, passwords, or personal files. Three features are optional and happen only if you choose them: logging in with FACEIT (Section 3.3), synchronising your notes and settings (Section 3.6), and buying a cosmetic item (Section 12). How long we keep each kind of data is set out in Section 11.
2. Data We DO NOT Collect
- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
- Your browsing history — the extension runs only on faceit.com and cannot see any other site. It never reports the addresses of the pages you visit; the selector diagnostics in Section 3.1 report only which kind of FACEIT page the extension ran on, never the address. Our own website counts views of its own pages, as described in Section 3.4
- Passwords or login credentials — you sign in through FACEIT, and your FACEIT password never reaches us
- Personal files or documents
- Payment card numbers — card details go straight to our payment processor and never touch our servers
- Precise location data — we do not collect GPS coordinates, street addresses, or city-level location. Only an approximate country, derived from your IP address, is processed as described in Sections 3.1 and 4
3. Communication with External Services
The extension interacts with the following external services to provide its functionality:
3.1. Developer Analytics Server
- Service:
api.fforecast.net - Purpose: Collecting and processing aggregated usage and technical metrics, such as counting unique active users, monitoring online status, the approximate country distribution of the user base, measuring API performance and reliability, feature usage, and banner impression counts, and whether other FACEIT-related browser extensions are present alongside Forecast, so that overlapping features are not enabled twice
- Device Identifier: A randomly generated identifier that does not contain your name, email, or other directly identifying details. It is stored on your device and sent with requests to recognise your installation for the aggregated statistics above. Once you log in with FACEIT, this identifier also becomes the key to your account — it is what proves to our servers that a request is yours, including requests that read the notes described in Section 3.6. Treat it like a password: do not share it, and do not paste it into bug reports. You can replace it by removing and reinstalling the extension: that generates a new identifier, and signing in again detaches your FACEIT account from the old one
- Approximate Country: A country-level location (no city, no coordinates) derived from your IP address, so that we can understand the overall geography of our user base. Only the resulting country code is kept, associated with the random device identifier; Section 4 covers what happens to the address itself
- Regular Check-in: Roughly every two minutes while your browser is open, the extension checks in with us, so that we can count how many installations are active and tell it whether its configuration is out of date. That check-in carries the device identifier, the extension version, the browser and operating system family, and the approximate country
- Reliability Metrics: Counts of how many requests the extension made to FACEIT in the last minute and how many of them succeeded, were rate-limited, or failed, together with how long they waited in its queue. Counters only — no addresses, no page contents, no player identifiers
- Selector Diagnostics: FACEIT changes its page markup regularly, which silently breaks parts of the extension. To notice that, the extension occasionally reports which kind of page it was on (for example "match room" or "profile"), the version of FACEIT's own front-end build, and, for each element it looks for, how many matching elements it found. No page text, no addresses, and no data about you or about other players are included. It runs at most once every 15 minutes per kind of page
- Feature Usage: Once a day, which of the extension's own switches you have turned on, so that we know which features are worth maintaining. Values you typed yourself, such as custom map messages, are reported only as "set" or "not set" — the text itself is never sent
- Looking Up Other Players: When the extension draws a badge next to a player, it asks our server which of the FACEIT player identifiers visible on the page belong to Forecast users. Those identifiers are matched against a cache and the answer is returned; the question is not written down, not logged, and not attached to you
- Turning Telemetry Off: The reliability metrics, selector diagnostics, and feature usage above are optional and can be switched off in the extension settings, as described in Section 6. The check-in is what keeps the extension's configuration current and is not covered by those switches; removing the extension stops it
3.2. Public FACEIT API
- Service:
open.faceit.com,www.faceit.com - Purpose: Access to public match and player statistics for analyzing and displaying game information
3.3. Optional FACEIT Account Login
- Service:
auth.fforecast.net,api.fforecast.net - Purpose: If you choose to log in with FACEIT (an optional feature), the extension links your public FACEIT account to a randomly generated device identifier to display your authenticated badge and related features
- What is stored: Your public FACEIT player identifier and its association with a randomly generated device identifier. We do not store your FACEIT password or login credentials — authentication is handled by FACEIT via OAuth
- One installation at a time: Logging in from a new device replaces the previous link, so an account is tied to one installation at a time
- Legal basis: Your consent, given by initiating the login yourself
- Removal: You can unlink at any time from the extension, which deletes this association from our servers. It is also removed automatically after a long period without use, as described in Section 11
3.4. Our Website (fforecast.net)
- Service:
fforecast.net,api.fforecast.net - Purpose: Counting page views, so that we can see which pages are actually used. The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics product
- What is recorded: The path of the page you opened, your browser family (for example "Chrome"), the domain you arrived from, and a two-letter country code supplied by our content delivery network
- Your IP address is used only so that the same visitor is not counted twice; it is never part of the stored totals. Section 4 covers how long it is kept
- Local storage: The site keeps your chosen language and a cached copy of the patch notes in your browser. Neither identifies you, and neither is a tracking cookie
3.5. Optional Discord Linking
- Service: our Discord bot
- Purpose: If you link your FACEIT account in our Discord server, the bot can give you a level role and include you in the server leaderboard and the daily stats post
- What is stored: Your Discord user identifier, your public FACEIT player identifier and nickname, your current elo and the previous day's elo (so the bot can show who gained), and your visibility preferences
- Your choices: Run
/settingsin Discord to hide yourself from the leaderboard, from the daily stats, or from the level role. These are on by default, which means you are visible until you change them. Changing them is recorded in a private moderation log together with your Discord identifier - Removal: Run
/unlinkto delete the link entirely. It is also deleted if you leave the server - Legal basis: Your consent, given by running the link command yourself
3.6. Optional Notes and Settings Sync
- Service:
api.fforecast.net - Purpose: While you are logged in with FACEIT, the extension can keep a server-side copy of your private player notes and of your extension settings, so that they follow you to another browser or another machine
- What is stored: The notes you wrote yourself — the note title and text, the FACEIT player identifier and nickname of the player the note is about, an optional match reference, and timestamps — together with the values of your extension settings. Your notes are private: they are shown only to you, never to the player you wrote them about and never to anyone else
- Your choices: Synchronisation is off by default: it runs only if you are logged in and have switched it on yourself. You can switch it off with the "Synchronization" toggle in the extension, and "Delete cloud copy" erases the server-side copy immediately. Switching it off leaves your notes untouched on your own device
- Legal basis: Your consent, given by logging in and switching synchronisation on
4. Automatic Technical Information
As with all internet connections, HTTP requests may automatically include standard technical information such as:
- IP address (required for internet connection)
- Browser user-agent string
- Basic request headers
Important: Your IP address is used to route the connection, to derive an approximate country (country level only), to count visitors without counting anyone twice, and to prevent abuse — rate limiting, and detecting one person registering many devices. It is not used to build a profile of you and is never shared with third parties for advertising. It is kept only for those purposes and then erased: the address a device registered from after 7 days, the short list of addresses a device has recently used after 30 days, the website's "currently online" list after 10 minutes, and the website's daily visitor list after 3 days. Our long-term statistics contain no IP addresses at all — only a two-letter country code. Short-lived technical logs may contain it until they rotate.
5. Local Data Storage
The extension may temporarily store data locally in your browser to optimize performance, including:
- Cached match statistics in a local database (automatically cleared after a period of inactivity)
- Extension settings and preferences
- Private notes you write about players, including the note text and the identifier and nickname of the player it is about
- A randomly generated device identifier for usage counting
Cached match statistics stay on your device and are never sent anywhere. Your extension settings and your player notes also stay on your device by default; they leave it only if you are logged in with FACEIT and have switched synchronisation on, which is described in Section 3.6. The randomly generated device identifier is also stored here; what it is used for is described in Section 3.1.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Telemetry: The extension settings have a Telemetry section with two switches, "Usage statistics" and "Layout checks". Turning them off stops the reliability metrics, feature usage, and selector diagnostics described in Section 3.1
- Banners: The "Integrations" switch turns off partner banners, and with them the view and click counting described in Section 7.1
- Synchronisation: The "Synchronization" switch stops the exchange: nothing new is sent to the server, while the copy already stored stays until you erase it with "Delete cloud copy" or until the retention period in Section 11 removes it
- Unlinking: Logging out of FACEIT in the extension deletes the link between your FACEIT account and your device identifier from our servers
- Discord: The
/settingscommand controls what the bot shows about you, and/unlinkremoves the link entirely - Removal: You can remove the extension at any time through your browser's extension management page. That deletes everything it stored locally and stops all further collection. It does not by itself delete the server-side copy of your notes and settings: as explained in Section 11, that copy is deleted 90 days after the last device stops being linked to your account. If you want it gone immediately, use "Delete cloud copy" before you uninstall
- Your rights: You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its processing, using the contact details in Section 13. Because such a request concerns personal data, we may need to verify that it really comes from you before we act on it
7. Third-Party Services
The extension uses the public FACEIT API. Please review the FACEIT Privacy Policy for information about their data handling practices. Besides FACEIT, the following take part in running the service: Stripe handles payments and acts as merchant of record, as described in Section 12; Cloudflare sits in front of our servers as a content delivery network and supplies the approximate country code; our servers are hosted in the European Union; and Discord is involved only if you link your account there yourself, as described in Section 3.5. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertising networks.
7.1. Advertising and Partner Integrations
- The extension may display optional partner banners to support the project. The creatives are served from our own servers: they set no cookies, load no third-party advertising or tracking scripts, and no ad network is involved.
- Like every other request the extension makes, a banner request carries your random device identifier, and our server sees it. It is used for two things and no others: applying the per-installation request limits, and picking which banner from the current rotation you are shown, so that the same creative is not repeated to you endlessly. That choice is computed for each request and is not written down.
- We count views and clicks ourselves. What we store is the banner's identifier and a timestamp — those records contain no device identifier and no IP address. They are rolled up into totals and then deleted, on the schedule in Section 11. We do not build an advertising profile of you, and we cannot tell from these records which banners any particular person saw.
- Clicking a banner takes you to the partner's own website through a redirect on our servers. From that point the partner's own privacy policy applies. We do not pass your device identifier to the partner.
- You can turn banners off at any time with the "Integrations" switch in the extension settings.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may periodically update this privacy policy. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. Continued use of the extension after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Legal Basis (for EU Users)
For users in the European Union (GDPR), our legal bases are: (a) legitimate interest, for providing the extension's functionality, keeping it working against changes to FACEIT's website, preventing abuse, and measuring aggregated usage statistics; (b) your consent, for the optional FACEIT account login described in Section 3.3, the optional Discord link described in Section 3.5, and the optional synchronisation of your notes and settings described in Section 3.6 — each of which you can withdraw at any time by unlinking, by using the /unlink command, or by switching synchronisation off; and (c) performance of the contract you enter into when you buy a cosmetic item, described in Section 12, together with our legal obligation to retain accounting records. You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, to receive a copy of it, and to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. Because such a request concerns personal data, we may need to verify that it really comes from you before we act on it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority; in Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
10. Data Security
We apply appropriate technical measures to protect the security of the data we process and transmit, and to ensure the extension operates safely within your browser's security model.
11. How Long We Keep Data
We keep each kind of data only for as long as it is useful for the purpose it was collected for:
- Device records — the random device identifier, the browser, the operating system, and the country: kept while the installation is in use, and set aside as inactive after 30 days without contact.
- Activity records used to count active users: 14 days, after which only the totals remain.
- IP addresses: kept only for abuse prevention and visitor counting, on the short schedules set out in Section 4.
- FACEIT account link: removed after a long period without use, and immediately when you unlink.
- Synced notes and settings: deleted automatically 90 days after the last device stops being linked to your account, whether the link was removed by you or by our cleanup of dormant devices. Link a device again before that, and the countdown starts over from the next time you leave. Until then, the copy is kept. Use "Delete cloud copy" to erase it immediately, at any time, as described in Section 6.
- Reliability and feature diagnostics: 24 hours for the request and selector diagnostics, 7 days for the daily feature usage counts, and only ever as totals.
- Banner views and clicks: 30 days as individual records, after which only per-banner totals remain.
- Website visit counts: the daily and hourly totals are kept indefinitely; they are aggregate numbers that identify nobody.
- Discord link: kept until you unlink or leave our server.
- Purchase and subscription records: as described in Section 12.
12. Purchases & Payments
Forecast offers optional paid digital cosmetic items (VIP badges). If you choose to make a purchase, we process only the minimum data needed to complete and deliver it:
- Your FACEIT player identifier — used to deliver the purchased cosmetic to your account and keep it linked to you.
- Payment processing: card payments are handled by Stripe, with Stripe/Link acting as merchant of record for the sale. Stripe processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, together with your FACEIT identifier — never your card number.
- Supplier and controller: the digital cosmetic items are supplied by Koretskyi Dev (Oleksandr Koretskyi Digital Products, NIP 6783236152), which is also the data controller for this payment-related processing.
- Legal basis: performance of the contract you enter into when you buy a cosmetic item (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
How long we keep this: records of purchases and subscriptions — the item, the amount, the currency, the date, your FACEIT identifier, and the payment processor's reference numbers — are kept for five years from the end of the year in which the purchase was made, as tax and accounting law requires, and are not used for anything else in the meantime. Your entitlement to an item you bought is kept for as long as you have the item.
For terms of sale and refunds, see our Terms of Service.
